How to play Sylas
Read the full guide
Sylas lane usually opens the moment the opponent spends the spell that was keeping you out: E1 should ask the question, E2 should catch the dodge, and the trade only feels real if you weave Petricite Burst autos and use W on the swing instead of the greeting
Treat side lane and objective setups as an ult-inventory problem; if the enemy comp is offering a fight-winning engage or lockdown steal, stop valuing one more wave over arriving with the borrowed button that changes who can walk into the fight
Sylas works best when lane damage spills directly into the next nearby scrap rather than being reset into a clean map state, and recent data supports that his strongest games come from making mid lane physically threatening before he moves, not from disconnected early side trips
Start with ults that fix access or certainty, because Sylas already has enough damage if he can stay attached. Reliable engage, lockdown, or reposition tools are usually better than flashy damage buttons when a real fight starts. Before dragon, Herald, or a side-wave collapse, pick the two steals that would immediately change who is allowed to walk forward and plan around those. If the enemy comp is offering one of those fight-winning ults, leave side lane earlier and keep it available. If the available steals are mediocre, play more selfishly for lane pressure, fog, and a scrappier entry where your base kit still carries enough weight.
After casting a spell, Sylas stores a charge of Petricite Burst. Sylas's basic attacks will expend a charge and whirl his energized chains around him dealing bonus magic damage to enemies hit. While Sylas has a charge of Petricite Burst, he gains attack speed.
Sylas lashes his chains out, intersecting at his targeted location dealing damage to and slowing enemies. After a delay, magical energy explodes from the intersection point dealing damage.
Sylas lunges at an enemy with magical force dealing damage and healing himself against enemy champions.
Sylas dashes to a location. Sylas can recast the ability to throw his chains out, pulling himself to an enemy he hits.
Sylas steals the enemy's ultimate ability and can cast it freely.
