Place W slightly off-angle, land E, then throw Q after the slow shows the dodge; on Zed, the shadow’s angle is usually what lands the combo, not raw speed
A lot of bad Zed lanes start when you spend W into a dead-even wave and have to stand there honestly, so trade when the shadow also leaves you a lane you still control after the combo
Zed’s map usually opens when mid starts costing people caster minions and side-wave catchers stop walking up into shadow range, and the recent data backs that lane-earned 1v1 pressure more than random early wandering
Swap when the new position actually improves the next step of the fight, not just because the shadow exists. In lane, that usually means W stays put until the enemy has already respected the first angle or committed to punishing you; if you instantly swap, you often trade away your safe return for no extra hit. After R, think about the mark and the W shadow as two exits with different jobs: one may keep you on the target, the other may get you out of peel or back over terrain. If neither swap gives you a better route, stay where you are and let the threat of the swap do the work.
